We’re
located in the picturesque Adirondack
village
of
Jay
, NY, the perfect setting for creativity and
inspiration.
The
Jay
Craft
Center
is a unique place, housed in a historic Grange
Hall it includes an
Adirondack
craft gallery and a working pottery studio all
under one roof.
Visitors who browse through the gallery
are encouraged to ask to see the studio where
the pots are made.
In addition to the hundreds of pieces of hand
made porcelain pottery the galley also has fine
woodenware, jewelry, photographs, prints and
original art of the
Adirondacks
.
Throughout our 35 years in business
quality craftsmanship has been and continues to
be a priority in everything we do.
Cheri
is widely known for her hand painted
porcelains, her work is in the functional
pottery tradition of the twentieth century that
has grown popular since its resurgence under
William Morris.
Floral designs,
Adirondack
themes and pinecone motifs have been the focus
of Cheri’s recent work.
Lee’s
recent focus has been on capturing the fluid
feeling of the clay.
Using wood ash glazes in fuel fired kilns
has brought his recent work closer to the earth.
“Flashed by the fire they are like
moments frozen in time.
If you look closely you can even see
fingerprints in the clay.”
